我用一句话辨异：

The two brothers have a lot in common. They have common interests, but they are not the same in character.

这兄弟俩有很多共同点。他们有共同的兴趣，但性格却不相同。

抛开common 的其他意思（普通的；常见的；一般的），只讲“共同的；共有的；共享的”这层意思。它跟 same 的区别是：

词义区别：common 强调“共有”，the same 强调“相同”。

用法区别：

1. common 一般作定语，不作表语；the same 作定语和表语，均可。

2. common 跟介词 in 连用，例如：have a lot in common；have much in common；have something in common；have nothing in common。但 same 须跟the 连用。
