In spite of the love of parents for their child and their fear for her safety, they both knew that their beautiful daughter was an incredible stupid, dull little girl. 不顾父母痛爱它们的孩子，担心她的安全，他们都知道他们那个美丽的女儿是一个技巧愚笨的小女孩。
中英文对照看，字面上倒没什么问题，但学生我再仔细品味译文，觉得逻辑上别扭，好像是词不达意似的——体现不出来“让步”。请专家指点一下！

这里的译文“不顾父母痛爱他们的孩子”根据句意最好改为“虽然父母痛爱他们的孩子”。
in spite of (= despite ) 表“不管，不顾；虽然，尽管”的意义，但在汉语中它们还是有一定的差异的。如：
Despite what others say, I think he's a very nice chap.
不管别人怎么说，我仍认为他这个人很好。
In spite of the bad storm John delivered his papers on time．
虽然天下暴雨，约翰仍按时投递报纸。
