表示“事故发生”可以用 take place 吗

答案是 A。选 B 不行吗？老师说 happen 表示偶然发生，而 take place 表示“举行”。但我查词典 take place 也有发生的意思啊，而且词典就是用 happen 来解释 take place 的。请专家老师解答一下，非常感谢！

▲此题答案选 happened 毫无疑问是对的。因为要表示“发生事故”，accident 通常是与 happened 搭配。如：
I was present when the accident happened. 事故发生时我在场。
It’s ten days since the accident happened. 事故发生已有10天了。
The accident happened shortly before midday. 事故发生在中午前不久。
Accidents are happening with increasing frequency. 事故发生得愈来愈频繁。
▲除 happened 之外，也可用 occur。如：
The crash occurred late on Tuesday night. 撞车事故发生在星期二的深夜。
The police said that the accident occurred at about 4:30 pm. 警察说事故发生在下午4点30分左右。

完全同意陈老师的分析。关于accident 与 take place 连用，在中学英语教材中也出现过。比如北京师范大学出版社出版的高中英语教材——必修模块4第28页就有这样一句：
The accident, which took place in Kingston, a town southwest of London, happened because of the fog.
我也完全同意陈老师的分析。但是，《朗文英汉双解词典》（Longman Dictionary of American English）P.636 指出：“ 事件的发生用 happen （偶然发生的事）或 take place （经安排而举办的事）：...... ” 很多辞书中都有类似的说明。现在备有夸克《英语语法大全》、（王文昌《英语搭配大词典》）和张道真《初级英语词典》等书的老师可能不会很多，所以，如果在考试中遇到在 happen 和 take place 中进行选择时，最好按照《朗文英汉双解词典》中的说明处理。
