make+sb+形容词比较级+to do sth这样的结构本身是没有问题的。关键是形容词后接普通不定式还是悬空不定式要清楚。你的句子中makes players more difficult to finish the task. difficult后接悬空不定式，即make的宾语必须是不定式的逻辑宾语，你用了普通不定式所以为错误句子。错误不在make的用法，而是错在形容词和不定式的用法错了。下面二个句子都是正确的：
The new update of the game makes the task more difficult to finish.
