对不定式进行提问能用疑问代词what吗

在四级范文中有一句话：

Doing business is the best way to put what students have learned into practice, and makes them know better what the society requires them.

这里用的是what the society requires them，但require并没有双宾语的用法，请问这里的what 指代的是to do sth 吗？

从这个问题看出，网友非常仔细。显然，这里what 没有指代to do sth.的作用，而是原句有误。

的确，require 不能接双宾语。所以，what the society requires them 是错误的表达。

1. require 可以接不定式作宾补的复合宾语，因此，原句应改为：

know better what society requires them to do

2. require 可以接单宾，然后跟from sb.，即：require sth. from sb.，因此，原句还可改为：

know better what society requires from them

此外，原句还有一处错误：society 表示“社会” 是不可数名词，而且无需特指，不加冠词，the 应去掉。
