字典的翻译没有错，是你们老师理解错了：
如果你想说“离北方很远”，要用介词from --> far from the north
如果你想说“远至北方”，就用介词to ---> far to the north.
from+n：离n而去-->逐渐远离n
to + n: 奔n而来；--->无限接近n
注意二者方向的不同。所以，regions far to the north 翻译为 “远在北方的几个地区”没毛病。
另外，说句题外话，我发现国内部分英语学者/老师，有些不好的习惯，动不动就喜欢说（英美）某某权威字典错了，（英美）某某权威大咖错了......。顶级出版社出版的顶级字典，其出版需要经过一系列审校和多重把关的，哪有那么容易出错？出现一些无伤大雅的疏忽有可能，某些地方翻译不到位有可能，但翻译完全错误岂不笑话？
希望初学者注意区分什么是“营销说辞”，什么是真正探讨。
