同意曹老师的解答。我也作点两点补充：
1.用or连接两个不同职业的名词时，第二个名词可省略冠词。
A medical examination without a doctor or nurse in the room?（84版（高中英语第一册）LESSON 2 AT HOME IN THE FUTURE）
2. 在指两个人时，若一个名词与另一个具有相反意义的名词并列，还可用零冠词。
Are they husband and wife? 他们是夫妻吗？《柯林斯高阶英汉双解词典》
She spent the post-war years of her marriage trying to reunite father and son.在战后几年的婚姻生活中，她千方百计想让父子团聚。《柯林斯高阶英汉双解词典》
The birth took place this morning, and both (the) mother and (the) child are doing well.（夸克《英语语法大全》）

同意曹老师的看法。
下面补充两点：
1. The king and queen had fled. 国王和王后都逃之夭夭了。（《collins双解词典》）
queen前面省掉了the；所以The king and queen指两个人
2. 不同名词指同一事物时, 后一名词之前一般不用the, 但为了强调, 亦可用the,如:
He was the actor and the statesman of his age.他是当时的演员和政
治家。( the actor and the statesman指同一个人, statesman前用the是为了强调）
