the water in the cup 这个表示的是杯子里的所有水对吗？

water in the cup为错误。不能用零冠词。要么the water in the cup, 要么some water in the cup = some of the water in the cup.

I drank the water in the cup. 一般过去时表示事件，意味着事件发生并结束，即你喝水动作发生并完成。你喝完了。

drink只代表：喝。

drink up才是：喝光。

就这么简单。
