这类词,书上说谓语动词由这些词本身决定,我理解为A quantity of XX用单数,quantites of XX用复数?
A quantity of customers are coming...
A quantity of ...
A quantity of ...
A large quantity of customers is coming.
A large quantity of customers are coming.
A great quantity of money was spent on the project.(正确)

当a quantity of...
There is only a small quantity of paper (books) left.
In 1763 the Philadelphia goldsmith William Ball (1729-1810) advertised newly imported "delf and stone Liverpool ware in hogsheads, amongst which is a quantity of punch bowls, which will be sold by the cask or single dozen."

There are only a small quantity of flowers left in the garden.
