little表示数量时的理解

I have little to tell you.

little:几乎不,但句子的意思是没有,为什么不直接说:

I have nothing to tell you.

I have none to tell you.

没有就没有, 为什么还用 little (几乎不); 是不是说话里的感情色彩?

某人有1000万，一夜赌博输掉了900万。这100万，他可能会说 a little money, 意思是还剩下点；也可能会说，little money, 基本输光了，输没了。

nothing = 0, 什么都没有

none = 0, 你说的那范围内的事情，没有了。但非范围内的，未必没有。

I have none to tell you.留有余地。

《英汉多功能词典》有如下说明。

❷((用little))少许，只一点点（重点置于“无”上）

You have done little for me.你几乎没有替我们做什么事。
