1. much 是一个表示“量概念的代词”，所以，可以直接用how 修饰并提问。
How much did you pay for the car?
2. 既然是代词，后面可以接一个of 短语作定语。比较以下两个短语：
How much of your country's electrical supply
How much of a chance
结构上是一样的，都是of 短语作定语。但含义上却不同。
supply 是不可数名词，how much 表示 “其中有多少” 。
a chance 是可数名词，how much 表示这个名词 “在多大程度存在” 。
例如：
How much of a queen you are to me! （感叹句）
你是我心中的女王!
