to see him struggle with having to lie, 在本句作“条件或原因状语”。
不定式放在句首，偶尔可以充当“条件或原因状语”，动词多为hear, see 等感官动词。例如：

To see is to believe/Seeing is believing.
这个to see可以看做是if you are to see...的缩写，但题目句子里的肯定不是这种表条件.
题目句子中的to see可以看做是when I am to see...之类的变形,
实际上，在本句的to see 约等于seeing. 理论上用seeing其实更好。
