二．为什么下面的句子不用冠词？，这个句子不加冠词对吗？I can't write without pen or pencil.

【答】当两个词义有关联的可数名词用在一起时，为了表达上的简练，可以省缺冠词（可数名词单数用零冠词）。这个现象应该看作一种语言规律，而不是个例。这个不仅限于pen and/or pencil，可以延伸到更广的词语范围。例如：男女，夫妻，父子，母女，上下，左右，头尾，早晚，等等。现举例如下：

husband and wife 夫妇

3.如何翻译（实际上我会使用这些乐器但由于特殊情况不能玩）下面的句子？：我不能玩吉他，钢琴和爵士小提琴。

【答】乐器之前通常加定冠词。the guitar,piano and jazz violin——这是避免啰嗦，承前省略。用一个the 管着三种乐器。

1. 我不会玩吉他，钢琴和爵士小提琴。

2. 我不会玩吉他，会玩钢琴和爵士小提琴。

3. 我不能玩吉他，钢琴和爵士小提琴。

分别翻译如下：

1.  I can't play the guitar, piano or jazz violin.

2.  I can't play the guitar, but I can play the piano and jazz violin.

3.  I  mustn't play the guitar, piano or jazz violin.

【注】句3 “我不能” 的真正意思是：我不许/不准/不要/不可以  玩这些乐器。表示“禁止”之意。
