(1)earnings： 多指通过劳动或投资等手段所得到的收入。

The average worker’s earnings have not kept up with inflation. 

工人的平均工资跟不上通货膨胀。

(2)allowance： 指收入中的补贴部分。

Sales staff get a generous mileage allowance or a company car.

销售人员有优厚的里程补贴或者公司提供的专用汽车。

If you are entitled to sickness allowance, you must claim it from your employer. 

你如果有资格领取疾病津贴，必须向雇主申请索要。

(3)salary： 指按年定下，按月或星期平均给予的报酬，指脑力劳动者的薪水,即支付给教师、经理、医生等专业工作的月薪/薪金,工资。

Nurses earn a basic salary of £21,250. 

护士的基本工资是21,250英镑。

Her salary is paid directly into her bank account.

(4)wage： 多用复数形式，指按小时、日或星期的报酬，通常指体力劳动者的工资。

(5)pay： 是个通用词，可取代salary与wage.

(6)fee： 指提供某种服务收取的固定费用，或者支付给专业人员的工作酬金，服务费

Lawyer's fees can be substantial. 
律师的酬金可以很丰厚。

You can use the gym and pool for a fee of £35 a month.

There is no entrance fee to the gallery.

(7)income主要指个人收入，包括劳动所得和利润。

The amount of tax you have to pay depends on your income.

(8)revenue： 专指国家或企业的收入，主要指国家的税收。
