我注意到有些ing分句有单纯表 “主动” 和 “进行” 两种不同的性质，它们都是形容词性质分句作定语吗？

①I noticed a special snail taking a stroll on my plant.

②There are 30 people coming to dinner tonight.

③There was sign telling motorists to slow down.

④Its driver had a lot of troble trying to stop it.

请问老师，第1、4句和其他句是同一类型吗？都是定语性质吗？

①句不是很理解，无法确定ing是不是作定语，感觉更像状语，因为taking 表示“正在进行，所以感觉更像状语

④句无法还原成定语从句，也不是很明白

notice在此为感官动词，taking...为现在分词短语作宾补。

②There are 30 people coming to dinner tonight.

coming...为现在分词短语作定语。

③There was sign telling motorists to slow down.

telling...为现在分词短语作定语。

④Its driver had a lot of troble trying to stop it.

本句有二种解释：

1 trying 前省略了介词in，trying...为动名词短语作介词in的宾语，介词短语作时间状语，在...的过程中。

2 trying...为现在分词短语作时间状语，在...的时候。
