Than的比较从句中的省略 - 柯帕斯英语网

之前曹老师讲过than比较从句中的省略问题，但我还没有融会贯通，所以想再请教一下老师。

It’s even more difficult to travel in old age than in childhood.

It’s even more difficult to travel when you are old than in childhood.

Traveling in old age is even more difficult than (it is) in childhood. [第3句in childhood前it is可以保留也可以删去，其中it 指代travling]

以上句子都正确吗？谢谢老师。

It’s even more difficult to travel in old age than in childhood. 正确

= It’s even more difficult to travel in old age than (it is to travel) in childhood.

It’s even more difficult to travel when you are old than in childhood. 欠妥

= It’s even more difficult to travel when you are old than (it is to travel） when (you are) young.

Traveling in old age is even more difficult than it is in childhood. 欠妥

= Traveling in old age is even more difficult than (traveling) in childhood (is).

than为比较代词引导比较状语，以上句子实际上是比较状语从句省略了与前面主句相同部分即“it is +adj.+to travel”。比较代词than充当从句表语成分

It is even more difficult to travel in old age than(it is to travel) in childhood.

相当于是：

(1)To travel in old age is very difficult=It is very difficult to travel in old age.

(2)To travel in childhood is very easy=It is very easy to travel in childhood

在把上面2个句子用一个比较级套用并省略相同部分就是下面句子

It is even more difficult to travel in old age than(it is to travel 省略) in childhood.
