英语的词有实词(notional word)与虚词(form word)两种。

▲实词都有实义，共有六类：

1. 名词 (noun, 缩写式为 n.)，如 book, milk。

2. 代词 (pronoun, 缩写式为 porn.)，如 I, we。

3. 形容词 (adjective,缩写式为 a. 或 adj.)，如 red, blue。

4. 数词 (numeral, 缩写式为 num.)，如 five, fifty。

5. 动词 (verb, 缩写式为 v.)，如 go, play。

6. 副词 (adverb, 缩写式为 ad. 或adv.)，如 slowly, quickly。

▲虚词没有实义，共有四类：

1. 冠词 (article, 缩写式为 art.)，如 a, the。

2. 介词 (preposition,缩写式为 prep.)，如 of, from。

3. 连词 (conjunction,缩写式为 conj.)，如 and, if。

4. 感叹词 (interjection,缩写式为 int.)，如 oh, alas。
