Rather than go straight on to university why not get some work experience first?

问题：

rather than有连词又有介词用法，请问从上面两个例句是否可以得出：无论是介词用法还是连词用法，rather than表示的意思都是一样的，即当rather than后面要加动词时，用ing或原型并无区别。

rather than后接不定式，表示还没有发生的、潜在的可能性。

rather than后接动名词，通常表示实际正在发生或已经发生过的事情。
