宾语从句后的句子若表示科学原理、客观真理、、现阶段存在的客观事实、自然现象等，不论主句用何种时态，从句一律用一般现在时

老师，关于这个宾语从句我的疑问是，这个从句中的内容我读不出是表示“科学原理、客观真理、、现阶段存在的客观事实、自然现象等等”，那么我就可以把 can 改成 could 吧！

主句谓语为过去时，即使宾语从句表示的是科学普遍真理，从句用过去时也不为错，只是用的比较少而已。例如，When I was very young, my father told me that the earth moved/moves round the sun.

所以本句完全可以用could 替换 can.

二者的区别是，用从句用现在时，表示说话人认为从句的内容在说话时依然有效。从句用过去时，则没有这一层含义。

以上句子只能使用情态动词can，不能使用could.
