倍数除了用在比较句中，如：six times as...as... 和six times more...than...，还可以直接放在一些表示“量概念”的名词前，表示前者是后者的“几倍”。

1. 倍数表达，用于“倍数 + the size of...”型：

用法与size 相同的名词，常见的有weight（重量），height(高度）,depth（深度）width(宽度）,age（年龄）,length（长度），number （数字），amount（数量），rise（上升幅度），等等。网友的情况便是此类型。

I am over twice his age.我的年龄是他的两倍多。

This river is twice/double the width of that one.这条河是那条河的两倍宽。

This bridge is three times the length of that one.这座桥是那座桥的三倍长。

He eats twice the amount that you eat. 他比你多吃一倍。

2. 还可用于“倍数 + what从句”型：

The value of the house is double what it was.这个房子的价值是原来的两倍。

People's average income is almost five times what they earned ten years ago.

人们的平均收入差不多是十年前的五倍。

【注意】表示倍数时，一倍就不要说了。两倍用twice/double，三倍及三倍以上用“基数词+times”表示。还要注意，“倍数”是“前位限定词”，应放在冠词或物主代词之前。如：twice the number，three times my weight等。
