August and September are the months of the year, during which most English people take their holidays.

老师好，which指代主语August and September，还是指代表语the months of the year?还是皆可？

during which...这个定语从句是the months of the year的限制性定语，没有这个定语从句，主句就失去了交流意义，等于在说废话。所以原句中的逗号为错误，必须删去逗号。

which 指代最近的词语：the months of the year。

意为：“在一年中的这两个月期间”。

本句，主语和表语虽然同等概念，但关系从句修饰的一定是最近的那个词语（表语）。不可能隔着be动词，舍近求远去修饰主句的主语。

我认为应该将逗号去掉，这里的duing which...是限定修饰the months of the year，应作限制性定语从句。非限制性定语从句表补充说明，是可以去掉的，而且不影响主句的意思，但这里的during which...是不能去掉的，否则主句的意思令人费解。
