这里的of old是看做形容词后置定语修饰royal court吗？in days of old也是这种用法，old是名词吗？

old 可以用作名词，表示“古时候；古老”。从介词of 可以看出old 用作名词，不是形容词作后置定语。
the royal court of old （古时的/古老的皇家宫廷）
in days of old = in the old days （在古代；在昔日）
