你的理解是错误的。

as作为程度副词，表示达到同样程度，如果和谁或什么达到同样程度，就没有必要再用as比较分句，因为那是多余的。比如：Tom is 1.80 metres and John is as tall. 三岁小孩都会知道约翰as tall是和汤姆一样高。此时在说as Tom就是画蛇添足。所以网友的句子中的as comfortable,指的是女性这么做的时候，就不像男性那么舒服（即感到不自然）。doing that是现在分词短语作时间状语，修饰aren't as comfortable.
