网友注意的没有用can而用了could，但却没有注意定语从句本身结构有错误。
if从句显然不是条件状语从句，而是名词性从句。如果是条件状语从句，从句谓语用过去时could表示与将来事实相反的假设，即说话人认为实际是不能的，那么test就没有必要了。所以排除条件状语从句。if为名词性从句，则test用成了双宾语动词，the service为间接宾语，if从句为直接宾语从句。但test这个动词没有并没有双宾语用法。所以定语从句结构错误，是汉译英的时候，译者用错了动词test。我们可以对定语从句作如下修改：
It's estimated that millions of fans will visit the "CCTV5" app during the football carnival, which will a test to show if/whether the service can/could meet the demand.
这样which引导非限制性定语从句，which的先行项为that从句的内容。to show+if/whether从句为不定式短语作定语修饰名词test，表示主谓关系。
can/could表示理论上的可能性。用can则说话人持中性态度，觉得该软件满足观众要求这种情况有可能发生，也有可能不发生。如果用could, 则说话人持消极态度，觉得满足不了观众要求的可能性待遇能满足的可能性。当然这都有待于时间的证明。

本来，说完 which will test the service 也就够了，但仍觉得“意犹未尽”，于是又添上了 if it could meet the demand 这一句。结果错误来了。
