before之前什么时候用一般过去时和过去完成时

比如：

Her book，“Determined，Dedicated and Disciplined To Be Fit，”came (come) out in April just before she turned eighty．

The bus had left before I arrived.

为什么两个不一样呢？什么时候用一般过去时，什么时候用过去完成时。

before引导时间状语从句，主句用一般过去时或过去完成时均可。

解答如下：

A时间=I arrived (过去某个时间，即离现在较近的过去时间）

B时间=the bus had left (在A时间的之前的某个时间，即离现在较远的过去时间）发生在过去A时间之前的动作即过去的过去，用过去完成时态。
