一个page指“一个页面”还是指“两个页面”

一个 page 应该是指一个页面吧，如：
We got up to page 72 last lesson. 上一课我们学到第72页。
For further information, see page 277. 关于更多情况，见277页。
但是，下面这句的 page 好像是指两个页面：
There’s a page missing from this book. 这本书缺一页。
因为不可能只掉一个页面吧？应该掉了一张纸（包括两个页面），对不对？

page 既可指“一个页面”，也可指“两个页面”（即一张纸的正反两面）。比如《牛津高阶英汉双解词典》）对 page 的解释就包括有以上两个意思：
(a) (abbr 缩写 p) one side of a sheet of paper in a book, magazine, etc （书﹑ 杂志等的）页
read a few pages of a book 看几页书
You'll find the quotation on page 35. 引文见第35页。
(b) this sheet of paper itself （纸的）张
Several pages have been torn out of the book. 书中有几页撕掉了。
