1 I'm an immigrant with a son born in America.
我是移民，有一个在美国出生的儿子。（翻译正确）
我是一个有一个出身在美国的儿子的移民。（翻译错误。错误的原因是意为英语的定语翻译成汉语就一定得是定语，这样翻译出来的汉语听起来实在别扭，没有哪个正常的中国人会这样说话的。）
2 He told people when he was little that he felt awful that he was white.
= When he was lttle he told people that he felt awful that he was white.
when从句是主句的状语，修饰主句谓语动词told. people为told的间接宾语，that从句为told的直接宾语从句。 that he was white是修饰表语形容词awful的原因状语从句（或者分析为表语形容词的补足语）。所以，这个句子语法是正确的。
该句译文：当他小的时候，他告诉人们他对自己是个白人感觉很糟糕。
