what kinds of n. vs what kind of n. 结构中名词的单复数问题
曹老师曾在答复网友的问题中提到过章振邦先生的《新编高级英语语法》，于是从首图借来学习。其中主谓一致一章第68页，讲到当主语为”what kind of+名词”时，给出了两个例句：
What kinds of cherry tree flourish best in this region?
What kind of cherry tree flourishes best in this region?
我用kinds of 作关键词，在有道电子词典 查询后发现给出的例句中，kinds of 所接名词均为复数名词。所以想确认一下 ，kinds of 后所接名词（cherry tree)，是否是单复数均可 ，还是必须是复数(cherry trees) 呢？

看书要有系统的看，不能断章取义。
章振邦教授在同一页先提到：
1 this/that/every kind of+名词作主语时，名词只能是单数或不可数名词，不能用复数。此时谓语动词要用单数。
This kind of man annoys me.
即kind为单数时，后面的名词 不能用复数。除非 of this kind后置修饰名词：
Roses of this kind are very sweet.
2 these/those/several kinds of+名词作主语时，则名词可以是复数，也可以是不可数或单数名词。但谓语动词要用复数形式。
These kinds of car(s) are imported from Japan.
3 What kind(s) of +名词作主语，谓语的数由kind的数决定。这里章教授没有提名词的数，因为kind(s)后面的名词的数上面刚提及，没必要重复。
What kind of cherry tree flourishes best in this region.
What kinds of cherry tree(s) flourish best in this region.
章教授其实已经明确告诉你了，what kinds of后用名词复数、单数或不可数都可以，但谓语动词一定要用复数。what kind of后只能用单数或不可数名词，谓语必须用单数。

1. a/this/that kind of后接可数名词单数(不加冠词)、复数名词以及不可数名词。例如：
This kind of song/songs is popular with young people. 这种歌曲很受年轻人喜爱。(谓语动词用单数)
2. all/these/those kinds of后通常接复数名词或不可数名词。例如：
All kinds of flowers are in blossom. 各种各样的花在竞相开放。(谓语动词用复数)
They make compost out of all kinds of waste. 他们用各种废料制造堆肥。
