eminent（著名的，闻名的），可与介词 for, as 搭配使用。如：

She was eminent for her piety. 她以虔诚闻名。（《21世纪英汉汉英双向词典》）

He is eminent as a painter. 他是一位著名的画家。（《21世纪英汉汉英双向词典》）

由此可见 eminent 与 famous 的搭配是相同的，但表“为……所熟知”常用“be (well) known to”，如：

The actor is well known to us. 我们熟知这个演员。（《简明英汉词典》）

He is well-known to the local police. 当地警察都知道他。（《柯林斯高阶英语词典》）
