amaze, astonish, surprise 的区别

1. amaze 语气较强，强调“使惊异、困惑”，有时表示“惊叹、佩服”。如：

We were amazed at the beauty of the lake. 我们对湖光的美感到惊叹。

2. astonish 主要表示“使人大吃一惊”“几乎无法使人相信”，但没有“惊叹”的意思。如：

I was astonished when I heard the hospital had burnt down. 当我听到那所医院被烧毁时，我大为惊讶。

3. surprise 语气相对前面两词要弱些，它只表示“出乎意外地惊异”。如：

It’s nothing to be surprised about [at]. 这事不值得大惊小怪。
