1 read that从句：通过阅读文字信息而得知某情况。

《牛津词典》

read that... : discover by reading

I read that he had resigned. 我从报纸上得知他辞职了。

I read she's twenty-nine, but she must be at least forty.

媒体报道说她29岁，但我看她肯定至少有40岁。

如果是”领会、看出她是29岁“，怎么还会肯定的推断她至少40岁。这不是矛盾吗？

结合后面的修辞性问句表示的”她看上去真老啊！”，可知她29岁是报纸或时尚杂志披露的女星年龄，而不是说话人看出来的年龄。

2 反意问句的疑问部分主语必须用人称代词，不能重复指示代词that，而需要用人称代词it。

3 同理，别人用that指代某事物，你紧接着提及那个事物时，要用人称代词，而不是重复指示代词。例如：

Is that a pen?

Yes, it's a pen. 而不说 Yes，that's a pen.

所以，not that long ago是It's not that long ago的省略，而不是That's not that long ago的省略。

避免重复，使用人称代词替代，是英语的特点之一。
