非限制性定语从句常表示补充说明，但这不是非限制性定语从句，因为其后缺系动词were，所以不能用most of which。这里的most of them expensive是独立主格结构作状语，表补充说明。又如：
All the stones are very heavy, one of them weighing over 3 tons. 所有的石头都很重，其中有一块重达三吨多。
It’s so wet there that the trees are extremely tall, some measuring over 90 metres. 那儿湿度很大，所以树都长得特别高，有些高达90多米。
Today’s festivals have many origins, some religious, some seasonal, and some for special people or events.今天的节日有许多起源，有些是宗教的，有些是季节性的，有些是（纪念）特殊的人或事件的。

(结构1)The other day I went to the bookstore and bought some new books, most of which were expensive.（由关系代词which引导的非限制性定语从句）
most of which were expensive 为非限制性定语从句，修饰前面先行词books，关系代词which代替先行词books. (备注：most of which 属于部分与整体之间的关系）
(结构2)The other day I went to the bookstore and bought some new books and most of them were expensive.（由表示并列平行关系的并列连词and引导的并列句）
(备注：代词them指代前面的books)

如果用 which 的话，少了定语从句的 be 动词，应该是 most of which are expensive，因为定语从句要有自己的谓语，所以这里不能用 which。
