2.  I do not know what that is. （正）

在what 引导的间接疑问句中，如果就人称代词it 或指示代词this, that，用what 提问时，what 只能作表语，不能作主语。因为句子的主语已经事先确定好了—— 这些代词。

所以要用正常语序。

但如果what 就名词提问的话，what 可以作主语，也可以作表语。例如：

 I want to know what is our next action. （what 作主语）

 I want to know what our next action is. （what 作表语）

3. They may get lazy and unmotivated if they know what is coming to them.（正）

【翻译】如果他们知道什么将要降临，他们可能会变得懒惰和缺乏动力。

what is coming to them 是know 的宾语从句，is coming 是进行时表将来。这跟我们常说的这个句子是同一个结构：

I want to know what will happen to them.
