这个句子的第一个问题，我跟曹老师看法不太一致。

我认为：where ...到最后，是定语从句修饰the animal。

首先，the animal 在这里指“动物身体”，不是“动物属性”，前文put a mark on the animal 指的就是“在动物身体上贴标记”。既然动物身体是“地点概念”，就可以用where 定语从句修饰。

其次，逻辑上讲，一个mark 不能同时贴在两个地方，只能是一个地方，这个地方就是动物身体的某个部位。然后加一个定语从句，说明这是一个什么地方 —— 动物看不到、闻不到或感觉不到标记的地方。like on the side of their head 就是举了一个贴标记的例子，这也验证了是贴在动物身体的某个部位。

关于第二个问题。without looking in the mirror 是“在不看镜子的情况下”，做到了is unable to see it or smell it or feel it，修饰定语从句的谓语部分，作“条件状语”。
