that is在这里是插入语，其作用为引出同位语。因此tutoring in math and English为动名词短语作同位语。现在分词是不能作同位语的。

不可以改为math and English tutoring。因为这种结构为合成词，其构成方式是逻辑宾语+及物动词。例如shoe making (制鞋），English teaching (英语教学），其中shoe和English分别为make和teach的宾语。tutor作为动词，为及物动词后接某人作宾语，教学内容用介词in引出。
