had received no news如何理解

老师请看此句：

They had received no news of him since his departure from the island.

【参考译文】自从他离开这座岛后，他们再没得到过他的消息。

【我的疑问】句中的"no news"如何理解？理解成"没有消息"？

既然句子想表达没有收到消息，直接写成"They had not received news of ..."就可以了。

为什么把否定词no放在news前面？这也是一种否定用法吗？

如果是这样的话，以后是不是凡是遇到"have not + 名词"的句式，都可以转换成"have 名词 + no"的句式？

否定形容词no+名词=否定副词not+any+名词
