So this is one way to think about Thoreau's text, not just as an important book in its time, for what it tells us about the nineteenth century, but also as a text that can teach us certain things about ourselves in contemporary society.
问题三:not just...but also在本文里的用法要怎么理解呢?
So this is one way to think about Thoreau's text, not just as an important book in its time, for what it tells us about the nineteenth century, but also as a text that can teach us certain things about ourselves in contemporary society.
1. think about A as B = think of A as B:把A 看作B
2. 填入本句:think about Thoreau's text as an important book,as a text
扩展本句:think about Thoreau's text, not only as an important book, but also as a text
3. not only..., but also...
即:what it tells us about the nineteenth century,是把Thoreau's text 看作为 an important book 的原因。
