at Christmas 还是 on Christmas（关于节日名词前用什么介词的问题）

通常看到的是 at Christmas 和 on Christmas Day。如：

At Christmas, she received many gifts. 圣诞节她收到了许多礼物。

The whole family descended on us at Christmas. 圣诞时节，全家突然来拜访我们。

Business is good at Christmas when people buy presents. 圣诞节人们买礼品，生意兴隆。

At Christmas we put decorations in the house. 圣诞节时我们在房子里摆上装饰品。

The trains don’t run on Christmas Day. 圣诞节火车停驶。

On Christmas Day he received many presents. 在圣诞日他收到了很多礼物。

但英语可以说 on Christmas 吗？谢谢！

Christmas 有两个意思：

(1) 指“圣诞日”，即12月25日（某些教会为1月6日），此时也可说成 Christmas Day，若表示在这一天，其前用介词 on。如：

I’m always busy on Christmas (Day). 圣诞节这天我总是很忙。

The trains don’t run on Christmas Day. 圣诞节火车停驶。

(2) 指圣诞节节期（即圣诞节前后的一段时间），此时也可说成 Christmastide或Christmastime，此时若用介词通常用 at。如：

It’s pretty cold here at Christmas(time). 圣诞节期间这里很冷。

The shops are very busy at Christmas. 圣诞节期间店铺忙得不可开交。

at常可用来表示时段，这主要用在一年中重要的节日名词前，不仅表示在节日的当天，而且表示在整个节日期间。如：

They will begin their journey at Easter / Christmas / New Year. 他们将于复活节（圣诞节 / 新年）期间开始旅游。

如果上述节日名称后面紧跟day一词，那就是表示节日当天，就不能用at，而要用on了。

They will begin their journey on Easter Sunday / Christmas Day / New Year's Day.
