网友对句子结构理解错误的主要原因是误将that从句当成定语从句了，that作主语，因此将名词demand误解为谓语，determines本是单3形式的谓语，被误以为是复数名词作宾语了，结果无法理解名词supply了。另外网友可能不熟悉determine这个动词，其名词为determination。

其实一个很简单的语法点网友忽略了：如果that引导定语从句并在从句中作主语，先行词为单数，谓语demand就该用demands。由此可知demand不是谓语，that也不是主语。这就会让网友想到同位语从句了。一旦意识到这是同位语从句，就不会再有问题了。
