Clearly, the King liked his wine a little too much.

老师，a little 是副词，too much 也是副词，为什么这样用，不明白？

不但有a little too much, 还有much too much, far too much呢。

I stopped doing it many years ago because it was much too much like work.

There is far too much time wasted waiting for this busy office to ratify an Event action.

程度副词too修饰much, too本身又被程度副词a little, much或far修饰，形成这种结构。

语气较为生硬（强硬），所以加入 a little 弱化下语气，显得委婉点，表示“有点点过了”。a little拿掉也没事。

其实我们中文也经常会这么说：你是不是做得有点过分了？
