两者的区别为：

be adapted for 表示适合的对象或适合某一需要

1. 试图去适应的东西或情况，用 to 指出。例如：

She found it difficult to adapt herself to her new surroundings. 她感到难于适应她周围的新环境。

Your treatment of the subject should be adapted to your audience. 你对这个题目的阐述应该适应听众的需要。

2. 试图去适应的目的，用 for 指出。例如：

... a system of central heating which is designed for large buildings, but which can be adapted for use in the home. 为大建筑物设计的暖气装置，但也能适于家用…

当 adapted 没有分词功能而为纯粹的形容词，并带有“适合的”意义时，也用 for 这个介词。例如：

Fancy shoes such as these are not adapted for outdoor wear. 这样花哨的鞋子不适合户外穿。
