请问：each...用什么代词来指代，是用单数还是用复数？比如下面的考题：

1. Water each tree every day, or _____ will die.

A. it B. they

2. I read each book on your desk, and I found _____ very useful.

A. it was B. they were

each和代词如果在同一个分句或主从复合句中，应该用单数代词（非正式语体可用复数）。如果each和代词位于不同的主句中（并列句是两个主句），由于each在逻辑上表示的是所有、全部的复数概念，在不同的分句中已经不受代词一致的约束，我认为应该用复数代词。二个题我会都选复数。

以上例句摘自《牛津英语用法指南》第三版。所以，问题中的两个答案都是正确的。
