appear与seem的用法及区别

appear 是否与 seem 用法相同？
She did not appear at all surprised at the news.
如果用法相同，为什么 appear 后还要加 at 呢？

句中的 appear 与后面的 at 没有关系。其中的 at all 是与前面的 not 构成 not…at all搭配的，意思是“一点也不”。句意为：听到这个消息她似乎一点也不惊讶。
