答案是A。学校老师说如果把选项B改为which was the way to that street，则也是正确的。
但我认为无论是 which the way was to that street, 或者 which was the way to that stree，在宾语从句中，都是正确的陈述语序，因为who/what/which既可以分析为主语，又可以分析为表语，
所以，我个人认为选项B. which the way was to that street 也是正确的。

【答】我认为都是正确的。在汉语中，我们可以说“通往某地的路是哪一条？”，也可以说“哪一条是通往某地的路？”当然后一种说法更常见。在英语的宾语从句中，which可以作主语，也可以作表语。例如：如果把“Which is my seat?”作为宾语从句，可以说：She wondered which was her seat.或者 She wondered which her seat was. （摘自《牛津英语用法指南》第三版278.7节）

根据语义需要，有些特殊疑问词，在句中是只能作主语的。例如：
Who is waiting for me?
What should be done to stop pollution?
What’s the matter with you?
Which is the shortest way to the station?
上面的几个疑问代词，都是在句中作主语。如果把它们引导的句子用作宾语从句，语序不变：
I don’t know who is waiting for me.
I don’t know what should be done to stop pollution.
I don’t know what’s the matter with you.
I don’t know which is the shortest way to the station.
【说明】最后一句，即便which能作表语，is也应该放在station后面，因为to the station 作way的定语，不可分割。

This is the way to the village. 这个系表结构中，表语是确认性表语（specifying predicateive)。确认性表语和主语可以互换句法功能，即表语作主语，主语作表语。因此，也可以说：The way to the village is this。那么究竟应该用this作主语，还是用the way to the village作主语，则取决于句子的主题（theme）。当我们要去某个村庄，来到一个岔路口，有两条路，应该走哪条路呢？显然句子的theme是which, 自然要用which作主语，而不是作表语。
