求staff的用法详解
只知道 staff 是一个集合名词。请问有没有什么注意的用法呢？比如前面加量词后需加s吗？比如 200 staff or staffs？谓语动词用什么形式（单数还是复数）？staff 表示几个公司的员工时可以加s吗？如 the staffs from different companies，此处纯属生造，只想辩其正误，谢谢老师们！

staff 表示“员工”的用法：
(1) 在英国英语中，staff 可以作单数或者复数，即单复数相同。如：
a staff of ten (= a group of ten people) 职工十人
I have ten staff working for me. 我手下有十名职员。
staff 作主语时，谓语动词用复数。如：
The staff in this shop are very helpful. 这家店的员工非常乐意帮忙。
(2) 在美国英语中，staff 只能作单数。如：
a staff of ten (不能用 ten staff) 职工十人
staff 作主语时，谓语动词用复数。如：
The staff in this shop are very helpful. 这家店的员工非常乐意帮忙。
(3) 复数形式 staffs 较少用，但在英国英语和美国英语中均指两批或以上的职员。如：
the senator and his staff 参议员及他的工作人员 （单数）
the senators and their staffs 参议员及他的工作人员 （复数）
(4) 20 part-time members of staff 20名兼职员工

但是，我认为第（2）项中的 are 应该改为 is。可以用 200 staff 或者 a staff of 200, 不能用 200 staffs 根据上面第（3）点， 我认为 the staffs from different companies 是正确的。
