各位老师，想请教一下 He has always been busy except when it is Sunday 这个句子是否一定要加 when 呢？去掉 when 是否完整？ 若去掉 when，except it is Sunday  后面是否需要加一个that? except that.....

【答】我跟黎老师的看法不太一样。我认为，在except that...情况下，可以省略that（而且仅限于口语或非正式英语）。如果是except when...，不可省略when。

这是因为：when从句表示主句谓语动词发生的时间，本质上起时间状语的作用，如果省略了when，就无法表达出这层时间关系。that从句表示主句整个事件及特征的例外情况，它是主句全部内容的例外部分，省略that后并不影响句意。

请仔细体会下面的句子：
