请问这里的并列结构是否正确

今天在 langman grammar of spoken and written english 一书的介绍中这样写

Every time that we write or speak, we are faced with a myriad of choices: not only choices in what we say but in how we say it.

请问这里的是否出现错误了，我觉得应当是：choices not only in what we say but in how we say it.

你改动过的结构无疑是正确的，你将两个介词短语并列。但原文其实也不算错误，原文并列的是两个名词choices，只不过省略了第二个名词而已。这在实际英语中是很常见的。因为这种省略是很容易还原的，不会导致理解的错误。当然你改动后则更为严谨。讲语法的书的作者是原则上是不会犯语法错误的。说明这种现象是被多数母语者接受的。

我也觉得这个句子表达不恰当，远不如网友改写后的句子好，所以，我赞同网友的观点。

我们看，冒号前面的choices，跟冒号后的choices 是何种关系？

被重复的同一个词语，它们之间是“同位关系”。只有同位关系才讲得通，既然是同位关系，就不能这样表达：choices = not only choices？（选择 = 不仅是选择？），不符合逻辑。

只有这样表述才合乎逻辑：choices = choices not only in...but in...，使用not only...,but also... 作定语，进一步诠释choices 的内容，让同位关系的前一个choices 意义更加详尽。

请看原句和修改后的句子，在意思上的差别：

【原句】Every time that we write or speak, we are faced with a myriad of choices: not only choices in what we say but in how we say it.

每当我们在表达思想时，我们都面临着无数的选择：不仅是我们说什么的选择，而且是我们怎么说。

注：把write or speak 翻译为“表达思想”，更符合句意。

【改正后的句子（两种）】：
