I wasn’t happy at school until I found I had the ability of making people laugh.
听话人根据at school可以推知说话人讲述的是他是个学生时候的事。即这个句子的When I was a school boy/girl是可以推知的。因此这个句子时态是没有问题的。ability of making改为ability to make.
According to my opinion, scientists take a pessimistic view.
一般现在时表示习惯性事件，属于静态用法，该习惯从现在向过去和将来延伸。说话人关心的是现在，现在存在着一个长期的习惯。时态正确。Accordingt to my opinion应改为In my opinion. 应该从上下文中推测是指对什么问题持悲观态度。

表示“有能力做某事” 应该说 have the ability to do sth. 不能说 have the ability of doing sth.所以，下面的句子是错误的：I wasn’t happy at school until I found I had the ability of making people laugh.
