We felt safe for the night, the door having been locked with two bolts.

这里的介词for可以用介词in替换吗？两者含义有什么不同吗？这里的介词for是什么意思？

for the night “过夜”，是状态或行为过程的概念；in the night / at night“在夜里”表时间概念。for the first time“第一次”，表次数，for常可省略。如：I’ve come to Wuhan (for) the second time. 我是第二次来武汉了。
