正如刘老师指出的，这个句子中的one不是数词，而是名词替代词，代替前面的可数名词以避免重复。one代替的是泛指单数，ones代替泛指复数，the one代替特指单数，the ones代替特指复数。如果不用名词替代词（仅仅为了说明，实际上重复名词是写作的败笔），句子则为：
The period since the revolution has been a period of political turmoil.
